Jamie’s Farm Trust is a charity helping disadvantaged young people to re-engage with society and their own futures through week long farm stays of intensive ‘agricultural therapy’. The Trust had the chance to buy a small farm in Wiltshire centred around a Grade 2* Listed 17th century farmhouse and its cluster of farm buildings: HRA were commissioned in September 2009 to obtain Listed Building, Building Regulations and Environmental Health Consents within a tight timetable to allow the purchase to proceed. Jamie’s Farm helps disadvantaged young people to re-engage with society and their own futures through week-long farm stays of intensive ‘agricultural therapy’. The Trust appointed HRA to obtain fast track consents for the conversion and restoration of a Grade 2* 17th Century farmstead in Wiltshire so as to meet their purchase deadline. Through a positive process of negotiation with local Listed Building, Building Control and Environmental Health, both the overall proposals for the site and the detailed scheme for the farmhouse minimising alterations to the historic fabric within essential health and safety constraints, were agreed within the 2 month period.
