Alterations and extension to a fine 1870s semi-detached red brick house in Heaton Moor, Stockport. The work included the removal of existing ad hoc extensions and replaced with new family, dining, living and utility spaces. The building fabric and details were developed in line with Passivhaus principles for maximum comfort and lower energy bills; the new structure is a timber frame, infilled and overclad with woodfibre insulation, excellent airtightness, triple glazing and mechanical ventilation. Full services were provided to the client including developing the brief, planning and conservation area consents, full working drawings and contract administration on site. The project is featured in the RIBA's House Goal book published in 2022.
