About the practice

We offer a wide range of services in the built heritage sector. We work in planning and urban design and in practical project construction exclusively within the historic cultural environment and on a wide range of historic buildings and conservation areas. We provide designs for and advice on conversions, re-use, additions and extensions to historic buildings as well as appraisals of new buildings in historic contexts. Our historic building and heritage consultancy services deal with the conservation of listed buildings, complex legal and planning matters, urban design and regeneration in conservation areas and the appraisal of tall buildings having impacts on city form & townscape. The assessment of impact likely to result from particular developments as well as the appraisal of alternative developments form a major part of our workload, and as a result, we thrive on challenging problems. We adopt the SPAB principles of conservation and repair rather than replacement and renewal. Our knowledge and experience of historic methods of construction, decoration and furnishing, is extensive; and historical accuracy is fundamental to our heritage projects. We adopt a holistic approach when carrying out surveys, appraisals and inspections; and we pride ourselves on the fact that our reports and statements are drafted with integrity and attention to detail.
