The School wanted to convert an under-utilised covered external store into a dedicated facility for their Pastoral Team, to focus their efforts with pupils. The area under some existing offices, was a continuation of the sloping playground. This meant that excavation would be required and careful acoustic works to the floor/ceiling. Harper Sperring assisted the School to prepare and develop their requirements, and optimise the limited available floor space, to accommodate an open-plan Teaching Area, two Offices, Waiting Area and Kitchenette. During the design process, several existing areas were added to be refurbished, including a Store, two Classrooms, Stairwell & Corridor and Washroom. The existing brickwork arches, part of the original school building, were retained and left exposed to provide a contrast within the otherwise modern interior. Harper Sperring worked closely with the School to choose finishes to create relaxing, yet still stimulating & motivating areas.
