Listed Building - Grade II
Haptic were invited by Stanhope to design a series of six luxury apartments on top of Television Centre in White City, a Grade II listed building and former home to the BBC. Each flat is designed around a central ‘Utility Cube’, a spatial divider that serves as the functional core of each unit. The cube contains the kitchen, cloakroom, laundry and audio-visual services in an intricately designed object that sits within a generous open plan living area, permitting a flexible use of the space. The material palette draws upon Haptic’s Scandinavian roots, focusing on warm, elegant materials that generate a light, natural feel. These include oak timber flooring and feature wall panelling, light grey concrete and dark metal accents. The project is currently on site with the new steel framework being installed. Many of the project components are being pre-fabricated such as the bathrooms and the utility cubes; thus ensuring a quality end product.
