New Build
The project interprets the Drøbak townscape into one cohesive scheme consisting of multiple housing typologies. The project will provide for the growing population of elderly people within the town centre, with equal focus on the internal and external spaces, creating a number of social spaces to bring people together. “Drømmehagen” is situated at the gateway to Drøbak and provides an important connection between the residential area and the town centre. Retail, restaurant and public amenities, such as a new public square will complement the residential use creating active frontages to the street. Below ground, the scheme incorporates a multi-storey car park, which will benefit the town centre as well as residents. The retail space is incorporated into a landscaped-podium with apartments above. Three buildings form a west-facing courtyard, and front a street which activates and extends the current centre as a gateway into the city. A new landscape is carved into the site to encourage public activity and multiple uses across the seasons. Subtly stained wooden clad buildings, alternating pitched roofs and stone plinths draw from the form, scale, texture and colour palette of the town.
