As part of the Anemos consortium, Grimshaw, Haptic, K-Studio, Arup, Leslie Jones, Triagonal and Plan A have been appointed to design the expansion of Athens International Airport, increasing capacity from 26 to 40 million passengers by 2032. Delivered in phases within a live airport, the project reimagines the satellite terminal as a dedicated Extra-Schengen facility, improving circulation, daylight and passenger experience through new atrium spaces. Unifying old and new, the design draws on Athenian architecture, landscape and materiality, creating memorable moments such as the north and south oculus gardens, while targeting LEED Gold.
