Conservation and refurbishment of the Grade A Listed Gate House and Administration Building at Crumlin Road Gaol as part of a Design and Build Team. The Gaol is of significant importance to Northern Ireland and Hamilton Architects have sensitively enhanced the architectural and historical value of the building applying minimal intervention where possible. The conservation of the iconic Gate house and Administration Building was one of the first conservation projects committed on the gaol site to provide fully accessible tourist, education and conference facilities. The project represents Phase 1 of the government driven regeneration of this highly significant site in North Belfast. "Hamilton Architects were lead consultant and conservation architects for the design and development of the Gatehouse and Administration Blocks at the Crumlin Road Gaol. The Gaol had been vacant for a number of years and suffered from neglect. The architectural and conservation work of Hamilton Architects integrating innovative design with historic features has enabled the creation of the now successful Visitor Attraction and Conference Centre. Hamilton Architects demonstrated real commitment and provided excellent service to deliver a high quality outcome within challenging timeframes." Tim Losty, Crumlin Road Gaol Regeneration Team, OFMDFM
