In crafting this annexe to complement a detached house in the heart of Cheshire's Greenbelt, our vision was to create a harmonious space that seamlessly blends with its natural surroundings. The primary objective was to offer independent living accommodation for a family member, fostering a sense of both privacy and connection. The accommodation unfolds with a sense of purpose and elegance, capturing an essence of simplicity, functionality, and a seamless connection to nature. The open-plan layout featuring a kitchen, living, and dining space, is carefully designed to optimize natural light and provide unobstructed views of the garden. A spacious double bedroom, complete with an ensuite bathroom, provides a tranquil retreat. Inspired by the mature trees enveloping the Prestbury property, our design draws from Nordic influences. The interior features a warm and inviting atmosphere with blond timber lining, creating a cosy ambience complemented by a log burner. To further integrate the annexe into its natural context, we embraced a contemporary aesthetic with Yakisugi charred timber cladding, providing a sleek yet organic façade. The choice of contemporary metal roofing adds a touch of modernity to the structure. This project not only fulfils its functional purpose but also becomes a thoughtful addition to the landscape, respecting the site's natural beauty and creating a space that truly enhances the overall living experience.
