New Build
This dynamic Sure Start project will complete the new Kensington School campus for 'wrap-around' education. The local Sure Start team together with the School aim to achieve a Centre of Excellence for Kensington in Liverpool. This facility will house much needed add-on educational and health orientated support for parents in the community. Facilities from creche and baby clinics to ICT and performance halls will link the new school and its five hundred children, to out of hours breakfast club, psychological therapy services, art and dance, amongst other creative initiatives. Some two million pounds of European and National Match funding has been secured to procure the capital costs for the work. The building design creates a south facing play/learning event space, reinforcing physical links between this facility and the new Kensington School. The project must facilitate a wide range of sensitive health and learning services to provide care and support in an open inviting manner. This new building provides education for pre and post school for all ages. HLP were Architects and Lead Consultants responsible for the new build school. HLP managed the demolition of the existing school to clear the way for this Sure Start programme. HLP have since been invited and presented design concepts at the North West Regional Sure Start Manager's conference using Kensington as a future role model.
