This ambitious project for Eastlands Homes involved re-cladding six residential tower blocks in east Manchester. The brief was to significantly improve energy efficiency and address issues of fuel poverty in the ageing housing stock. The project team delivered a new insulated facade and new windows to all blocks. An array of photovoltaic panels, new central heating system and Europe£s tallest living green wall£the equivalent of five mature trees£were also included in the design. External spaces were re-designed and provided an outdoor gym for residents and allotments made from recycled roof cladding.
