Following the complete refurbishment of an existing 3 bed semi-detached 1930's house, an external office was commissioned. Initially sketches as a semi-detached solution that shared the party wall with one neighbor, it soon became a detached single build. Carefully designed within permitted development, the space was laid out to enable three work spaces, a corner for printing / storage and mini kitchenette, a small toilet and an externally accessible garden store neatly tucked in as well. Heights were key in order to comply with planning restrictions for permitted development and glass was a natural choice of material to create a more spacious feel and sense of extended space by bringing the glass down to the floor and the floor being the same level inside and outside with the incorporation of a linear drain.
