Alteration to existing property, Listed Building - Grade II, Sited in AONB, Within a Conservation Area
Refurbishment of a Grade II Listed water mill in the Peak District National Park. The sensitive restoration and reimagining of the mill as a family home was the result of extensive discussions with the local authority planning and conservation officers. Building on an initial consent achieved by local architects Bench, we were able to successfully negotiate reorganisation of the interior to create successful living spaces. The new interventions were considered to sit comfortably with the historic building fabric and the antiquated mill machinery that was largely left intact. The project won the Peak District National Park 2018 Planning Award for Conservation
