The remodelling and full refurbishment of a 5 storey townhouse in the Maida Vale Conservation Area, London. This project offered a unique opportunity to modernise a property that had been neglected for many years. Original period features like the timber staircase, window shutters and cornices were carefully restored. A new mansard roof was added to provide an additional two bedrooms and ensuites, whilst a double height extension at the rear creates a surprising theatrical space in a townhouse of this size. A 6.6 metre high motorised guillotine window was developed specifically for this project, and allows the living space to be opened up to the rear garden at the flick of a switch.
