The renovation and enlargement of a three storey family house within the Holland Park Conservation Area, London. A new basement beneath the existing property and a rear single storey extension complement the existing spaces and allow the house to be upgraded in accordance with the Eco Homes environmental requirements stipulated by planning. The use of full height glazing spanning the width of the rear extension forms a connection between the main living space and garden. Contemporary timber staircases connect the new parts of the house with the old, complementing the minimal style chosen for the kitchen interior. The upper floors have been reconfigured to suit the owners’ specific needs, with new bathrooms and bespoke fitted joinery.
