The ethos of the design is to retain the openness and lightness of the hangar as much as possible, and this has been achieved by creating double height spaces in the entrance lobby, bedroom, and lounge area. This openness continues with the use of a number of glazed screens, rooflights and curved walls that will make the internal spaces feel open, bright, and airy. The proposal is to expose as much of the existing historic structure within the building, including the steel portal frame within the walls and roof, and the hanger doors. The design embeds the aeronautical theme through the use of streamlined walls, metal windows and a curved canopy roof.
