The George Pickering Education Centre provides students from Oxford University Medical School, the Oxford Radcliffe NHS Trust and the postgraduate Education Centre with additional and improved space for lectures, seminars and research. The project includes nine seminar and meeting rooms of various sizes, including two pairs of partitioned rooms that can be opened into larger spaces. A central glass-sided meeting room doubles as a lobby and rest area. A common room area with computer facilities relieves pressure on the existing cafeteria and the existing lecture room remains part of the centre. A new reception area provides information to centre users and offers additional management resources. New toilet facilities, including a shower room, are provided. The centre also includes space for the Oxford medical illustration unit. This is relocated to an area adjoining the centre and supports the provision of high-quality audio-visual support and closer liaison with the media and communications unit.
