The proposed canopy will provide covered external space for social and informal play. The students will have the choice to eat outdoors even in inclement weather, and the movable furniture and large structural spans create opportunities for whole school assemblies and performances. The composition is simple, three bays of double pitch roof that are truncated and tilted to follow the existing landscape axis. The relation to the existing building is dynamic, zoning the courtyard in distinct areas, unified by the central cover.
