About the practice

Goldstein Heather Architecture was formed in late 2018 by Simon Goldstein and Giles Heather, who met whilst working at Squire and Partners. We are committed to maintaining big practice quality in all the work produced by our growing studio, whether for a domestic extension, or for larger scale commercial projects. We work across a range of uses and aim to bring the same intelligence and guile to everything we do. We believe that beautiful architecture works on different registers; there is an on-going and lively architectural conversation in our studio, where inspiration can come as easily from historic as from Modernist architecture – every beautiful building can be relevant. Good architecture is also, of course, the product of meticulous engagement with physical context and sensitivity to scale and materials. It is about knowing when a contrasting, assertive proposal is right, and when understatement is better. It is also about listening to and internalising our clients’ aspirations. But architecture doesn’t just consist of drawings and models; it requires practicality and political acuity to advance abstract proposals into reality. We seek to negotiate a clear path through the various statutory and commercial pressures that can weigh down projects. We have an abundance of experience driving projects through an increasingly complex and sclerotic planning system, and we know how to maximise architectural quality within budgetary constraints.
