Two tiny farm labourers' cottages had been joined together a number of years earlier to create a cottage that was still a bit small for our clients, a couple with no children. They planned to extend the house and asked GLM to advise on a plan they had drawn up. We thought we could do better and when it was finished, our clients thought so too and immediately proceeded to have three children to fill up the additional space. The design, a blend of vernacular and contemporary, perfectly fitted their lifestyle.
