This former Land Court building on the corner of prestigious Grosvenor Crescent was purchased by Carlton City with planning consent for subdivision. Sadly the proposed scheme did not make the most of this landmark building so GLM were employed to rework the space. GLM made use of contacts with local agents so that the revised scheme would be most suitable for the market in Edinburgh’s West End. Immediately the client fell in love with the simplicity of the proposal, the deft reconfiguration of the space and the attention to every corner. As highly design-focussed clients, Carlton City were happy to take on a lot of the specification of the interior elements. GLM’s knack for tailoring to specific needs meant an ability to deliver this design without imposing a design ego. GLM’s experience of historic buildings and planning constraints meant that modern luxuries could be added to a very prominent Category grade B listed building. The end result is a series of spaces which truly do justice to the building. The client decided to retain ownership of the apartments and has successfully let them at the top end of the market.
