Glazzard Architects Ltd , Graingers Porcelain Works , Unit 9, St Martins Quarter, Silver Street , Worcester , Worcestershire , WR1 2DA , United Kingdom
Forming part of the wider conversion of a former commercial unit, Glazzard Architects were commissioned to design the first retail concept store for Gtech. Gtech are global manufacturers of cordless technology, producing a range of products including floor-care appliances and electric bicycles. The store was conceived not only as a retail environment to display and sell the full product range, but also as an interactive space where customers can test and experience the products firsthand. This includes a purpose-built internal cycle track for trialling the eBike and eScent mountain bike. The interior concept is deliberately restrained and minimal. A series of pure white Corian plinths of varying scales provide a simple and elegant display system for the products, allowing the technology and design of the items themselves to take visual prominence within the space.
