Located in Perseverance Works, Shoreditch, The Hangar has been remodelled to create a contemporary studio space. The building, once a fish warehouse, and more recently a florist wholesaler, has been transformed into a well day-lit volume for the creative industries. Our proposal re-establishes the essence of a large span industrial shed. The building’s existing fabric – structural steelwork, profiled metal soffit – is exposed. A lightweight mezzanine floor is inserted into the main volume to create meeting room and pin-up space. The rear of the studio has been equipped with a new kitchen, wc and shower room, enabling the space to function as a dedicated, standalone studio.
