Redevelopment of the historic Farmyard including the original dairy at the college farm. This two-phased development was opened by Chief Scientific Advisor, Professor Sir John Beddington. Phase 1 included the construction of a new modern building providing flexible teaching space for lectures and ‘in the field’ teaching. This building was designed with sustainable practices in mind and high efficiency ratings where achieved for both heat and power as well as excellent thermal performance through Passivhaus design. Phase 2 involved the conversion of existing barn buildings to provide cutting edge research & education facilities as well as housing many postgraduate PhD & postdoctoral research staff. The project was achieved with Paveaways contractors, Burgess Design Associates Ltd & Howard Grady Associates.
