The project for Thorney Barn sees the creation of a new sustainable, family home through the remodelling and repurposing of a derelict stone barn on an upland hillside overlooking the Luddenden Valley in West Yorkshire. Gagarin Studio were lead designers for the architecture, interiors, furniture and detail design of the project. The scheme completed in October 2018 creates a new family dwelling within a hamlet on an upland Pennine site. We provided early site viability client advice, full architectural service, contract administration and post-occupancy evaluation. The project has received a number of accolades to include Northern Design Awards for Residential Design, a finalist in the Architects' Journal Retrofit Award, RIBA Yorkshire Winner along with Project Architect of the Year Award 2021.
