The scheme proposes a new and contemporary, country house within landscaped farmland in the rural Calder Valley, West Yorkshire as part of Para 79 Planning Policy. The proposal will provide a farmstead connected to the land and its uses, continuing the legacy of ‘Yeoman Halifax Houses’ for future generations within Calderdale. It aims to be an exemplar project; raising the standard of contemporary vernacular architecture within the region, a showcase for regional skill, carbon neutral and be a case study project for land and water management on Calderdale’s upland landscape. We undertook a very substantial RIBA Stage 0-3 site assessment, research and design development, followed by CABE Design Reviews. Planning Approval was given Winter 2019. This is the first Para 79 dwelling in West Yorkshire and is due to complete in 2022.
