A new residential building for 12 children aged 5-12 with profound autism. Comprising single bedrooms, bathrooms, living, dining and kitchen facilities, sensory room and commercial laundry. The completed building has attracted considerable attention from other special needs providers around the country as an example of an effective design that specifically meets the needs of children with autism and their carers. Particular attention was given to the use of materials and design elements such as wayfinding, circulation spaces instead of corridors, acoustics, colour and lighting.
