Listed Building - Grade II, Within a Conservation Area
192, Campden Hill Road , Notting Hill , London , Greater London , W8 7TH , United Kingdom
A major refurbishment of all five stories and extension, mostly underground for a listed house from 700m2 to 1400m2. This involved significant underground development to a depth of eight meters below the garden to contain a swimming pool, gym, changing room facilities, lift and ancillary rooms. It involved major engineering design and waterproofing and a wide range of planning applications was sought with two won on appeal. We were appointed as architect and project manager responsible for co-ordinating services and the work of a range of specialist consultants including the interior designer. A construction management approach was used. This has been a two and a half year project and is a truly exceptional example of what can be achieved above and below ground in a period house in London. Key to its success has been strong management while addressing all the issues surrounding a listed building in a conservation area.
