Little Thetford Pre-School is a new-build facility on a greenfield site in the centre of a Cambridgeshire Village. The practice was involved from inception of the project including advice on grant funding and procurement routes, as well as helping form the brief, designing the building and administering the building contract. The practice also assisted the Pre-School by attending meetings with the eventual funder (County Council) and adjusting the building design until a mutually satisfactory solution was agreed. The building is a single-storey brick building with a profiled fibre-cement roof to reflect the nearby agricultural buildings. Heating to the building is provided by an air-source heat pump, the inclusion of which was driven by the practice as part of our aim to provide clients with the most sustainable building possible. The facility is an important and long-awaited addition to the village and will enable the Pre-School to extend the services they can offer to children in the village and the wider community.
