Listed Building - Grade II
Unit 3, Mercy Terrace , off Algernon Road , London , Greater London , SE13 7UX , United Kingdom
We were asked to re-interpret the internal layout and deliver a full refurbishment of a double fronted Grade II Listed Georgian Crescent House in South London for a growing creative family. The design set about reinstating original features of the house as part of this contemporary intervention, with a curated approach to both furniture and lighting. We sought to blend minimalist interiors with subtle textures and varying colours to create distinct but versatile spaces. Listed building consent was granted for the relocation of the kitchen from its historic location to the first ground floor level. Tall floor to ceiling heights, good quality daylight and strong principal views across the crescent and gardens made this location for the kitchen more compatible with modern family living. Work spaces evolve into social spaces, which also open up to become somewhere for children to be creative, be it painting or playing music. The Client was very involved in the curated approach to both furniture and lighting, with key pieces of furniture being considered from very early on in the design process. We sought to blend minimalist interiors with subtle textures and varying colours to create distinct but versatile spaces. A key aspect of the property is the walled garden with existing summer house, which will become a year round area for relaxing and entertaining. We delivered a full Design and Build service for this project.
