Southwark
New Build, Within a Conservation Area
Foster Lomas , 6 Blue Lion Place , 237 Long Lane , London , SE1 4PU , United Kingdom
Foster Lomas was client, architect and main contractor on this project. Planning permission was granted by Southwark Council. The scheme provides four new build homes on a backland site in South East London. The houses are super insulated and triple glazed, built to a Passivhaus standard, achieving a Code for Sustainable homes level 4 when completed. Each house has a private garden and communal landscaping utilises storm water to maintain it. Each house has an extensive green roof and the brick cladding reflects the toothed detailing of the surrounding Victorian Terraces. The interiors of the houses combine a subtle palette of concrete, oak and plaster to provide an elegant backdrop for residents to personalise.
