Camden
£3m to £4.99M
Within a Conservation Area
Foster Lomas , 6 Blue Lion Place , 237 Long Lane , London , SE1 4PU , United Kingdom
Foster Lomas gained planning from London Borough of Camden for this sensitive refurbishment of a large Victorian detached house within a conservation area. The project includes a retro-fit 300m² basement that is designed as an additional ground floor. The existing building had become fragmented after years of adjustments and required modernisation. We sought to achieve a careful balance between the existing Victorian features in relation to the new basement by taking advantage of the corner plot and South facing aspect, using double height spaces, reflective pools and lightwells. Many bespoke elements take inspiration from the existing period detailing to enhance the architectural heritage of the building.
