Worsley Bridge Road, London, SE26 5BN (Lewisham Council) Forward Architecture was commissioned to reconfigure the internal layout of the property and to design a two-storey upward extension to the existing building, creating additional residential apartments. The project involved an inventive redesign of staircases to maintain safe access for current tenants during construction, and the introduction of new stairs connected to the existing circulation to serve the extended upper levels. The resulting apartments maximize usable space and offer expansive views of London. A modern construction method was employed to ensure a swift build process while minimizing loads on the existing structure. The final design integrates contemporary materials with the existing building, achieving a cohesive overall aesthetic.
