Alteration to existing property, Listed Building - Grade II, Within a Conservation Area
Studio 34 , Harcombe Road , Stoke Newington , London , N16 0SA , United Kingdom
forresterarchitects have completed an extensive refurbishment to a conservation area townhouse emphasising its original charm and character. The traditional fire and hearth has been replaced with an open fire box rotisserie to the dining room of a townhouse refurbishment in South East London. An antique parquet floor provides a wonderful warmth to the lower ground floor kitchen and a hand finished bespoke concrete work surface provides a physical connection between the two spaces. This is a house for entertaining. A simple monochromatic palette has been adopted throughout to avoid detracting from the client’s extensive art collection. The heirarchy of the house has been improved to provide a dedicated cloakroam and study. The bedrooms upstairs have been enhanced with the addition of a new guest shower room. To the top floor the bedoom and ensuite are open plan, separated by a slatted Oak timber sliding door, provideing a bright and airy environment with natural daylight to both sides of the house.
