The site lies on the north side of North Road at the point it becomes St Andrew Street. It forms a corner site, with the side road providing private access to Neal Court, an elderly persons residential facility situated to the north of the site. Its previous use was as a car parking area associated with the garage operation situated on the opposite side of North Road. Historically residential use and a public house was known to exist on the site prior to demolition to allow access into the Neal Court complex. A contemporary 3-storey block of apartments, known as Ebenezer Court, was subsequently constructed on the opposite side of the adjacent access road. The proposals are for a small scale, mews style, courtyard residential scheme with associated parking and amenity space provided by private balconies. Design proposals form the following accommodation: • 2no. 2-bed new build Mews Units with ground floor parking • 1no. 2-bed new build, ‘build-over’ unit with integral garage • 1no. 2-bed new build, 3 storey town house corner unit with integral garage The project was granted planning permission in October 2015 and started on site in 2016.
