The dwelling has been designed to work with the topography of the site, but rather than stepping the floor levels down the embankment, the ground floor level has been run through level to create a cantilever over the embankment and create a ‘floating’ projection from the dining room, which will create an uninterrupted vista over the garden/ tree line to the south via the large, double height glazing. The use of natural materials was a conscious decision as the clients were keen to use as many natural products and where possible to minimise the environmental impact.
