New Build
Flanagan Lawrence were appointed by Land Securities as Interior Architect, Interior Designer and Lead Designer for the Nova Building, Victoria in 2011. Nova is a residential and retail building which sits within the Nova Masterplan Development. Located between Buckingham Palace Road and a new pedestrianised north/south route the building acts as an important mediating device between the historic fabric of Belgravia and the new commercial hub of Victoria. The scheme comprises 170 private apartments on 12 levels. Smaller studios and 1 bed units are located at lower levels and unit sizes increase on upper floors of the building, as does balcony and terrace space. The apartments are clustered around a series of 4 cores, each of which has its own front door at ground level. Lobbies on all floors enjoy natural light and help to engender a sense of ownership. The interior design concept for the building is contemporary, working with the buildings’ exterior expression and reinforcing this inside using colour, tone and materials to enhance a sense of space and light - the specification reflects the anticipated end values. The design is currently developed to RIBA Stage E, construction has started and is due to complete in 2016. A Revit generated 3D model was used to better understand the complexities of the building envelope and to coordinate this with the interior, structure and services.
