This canopy links three main blocks under a twisting and undulating roof and outdoor classroom which doubles as a performance space and cinema. The semi-covered structure incorporates informal social space, an outdoor classroom and purely expresses the simple structural members. Simple galvanised posts lift the structure high above the student activity below, creating lofty spaces for contemplation, socialising and protection from the elements. This is the first project in the masterplan to be delivered and is a precursor for further elements which will 'stitch' together the disparate buildings. The form of the canopy unifies the western end of the quad and link to another canopy and walkway in a future phase.
