FaulknerBrowns’ aim for this project was to design a highly flexible facility that could function as an events arena and host competitive international sports events, ensuring commercial longevity. The 250-metre cycling track envelops a 200-metre, Olympic-standard athletics track, supporting the venue’s versatility. Sections of the track can be removed to allow access to the infield. Combined with uniquely arranged asymmetrical seating, this allows the venue to also host music and entertainment events. Beyond the main hall that houses the two tracks there is a second, multi-functional sports hall, an outdoor skating rink, outdoor football pitches and support accommodation.
