Hebburn Central was crafted to represent the community it serves. The building has become a hub for health, learning and socialising. FaulknerBrowns’ design brings together previously disconnected community facilities into one centrally located entity. This includes sport and leisure elements integrated alongside a library and customer service centre. Celebrating the community’s industrial heritage, the design utilises technologies and fabrication methods inspired by the town’s engineering and shipbuilding pedigree. The modular oxidised-steel walls were fabricated off-site, allowing the design team to create a highly efficient envelope system that re-interprets the past with a contemporary composition.
