As part of a £90 million regeneration programme, Northumberland County Council tasked FaulknerBrowns with creating a flagship cultural venue in Blyth. Market Pavilion is a vibrant arts centre with independent cinema screens, a multi-purpose performance hall, café and creative spaces. A priority was to make Market Pavilion welcoming and approachable, achieved through simple double-gable form and red brick. The glazed sliding doors allow the building to open out into the marketplace, inviting people in and allowing events to spill out. Our design embraces Blyth’s heritage, with elements inspired by the historic cinema and music hall, and a spirit of innovation.
