Farrell & Clark LLP

3rd Floor, Brodrick's Building , 43-51 Cookridge Street , LEEDS , LS2 3AW , United Kingdom

A 23,900 sq ft Waitrose foodstore located in the heart of Cheadle Hulme, directly off Station Road and adjacent to the railway station. The site featured a large number of mature trees and has been designed to retain the majority, preserving the character and ecology of the area. The building is lightweight and modern, constructed in white cladding and glazing, with the main entrance to the store contained below a feature curved roof canopy. The single storey sales element is taken around to the Station Road frontage and the extensive glazing ensures that it will contribute to the existing shopping urban setting. Gross area including associated offices and warehouse is 42,500 sq ft. Car parking is located at ground level and also on an upper deck set back from the site boundaries and provided with a screen perimeter fence to ensure that there is no overlooking of the residential properties. To the Western boundary of the site adjacent to Oaklands Avenue, a new landscaped margin has been formed providing a link between the existing green space of Oak Meadow and the trees in the car park. Store opened July 2007. Contract sum 9m.
