This mixed-use scheme for The Northern Group is 9 storeys and promotes family living and diversity, providing residents with winter gardens and an accessible outdoor communal roof garden. The commercial space is split over the ground 1st and 2nd floors with 75 build to rent apartments located on the upper floors. The traditional brickwork facade provides historical reference to the area of Manchester with contemporary detailing through articulated stepped reveals to the window bays. The crown of the building on the 8th floor is set back to reduce the massing impact on the surrounding buildings and contrasting with the main building's material treatment, through the use of modern curtain walling. This scheme has been developed from an original design by Mecanoo.
