Isla Plana is situated on the southern coast of Spain and is a popular destination throughout the year due to its beautiful beaches, its access to the Mediterranean Sea and its proximity to the mountains to the north of the town. Faber Architecture were commissioned to design 4 contemporary terraced houses at the northern boundary of the town on a brownfield site currently occupied by a single family dwelling. Through changes in site elevation and setbacks each house is clearly defined. Semi permeable brick walls offer an element of privacy to the occupants whilst still allowing glimpses into the common courtyard garden at the rear of the homes. The colour of the homes was originates from the pink and red hues of the local mountain geology. The houses feature an open plan living area with double height space over the living room. The living area opens on to an external terrace overlooking the common courtyard garden space. The development is powered by roof mounted photovoltaic panels.
