This project included the design and construction of: 4 x 3m bespoke garden rehearsal and office space This project created a multi-use studio space at the rear of a carefully curated garden. Taking cues from the client’s background in opera, the project references galleries, stage curtains and balconies found in traditional opera theatres and combines them with high quality modern materials. The space becomes part rehearsal studio, part office and part entertaining space. KEY CHALLENGES: The property is in a conservation area so the design of the arched window and cladding had to undergo several design tweaks to satisfy the local authority’s criteria. A large protected tree in a neighbouring property meant a arboricultural survey and special ‘ground screw foundations’ were needed. RECOGNITION This project was awarded the Award for Excellence in Construction (London) in the 2020 Southern Enterprise Awards. It has been featured Enki Magazine.
