The brief for the refurbishment of this rural farm worker’s cottage asked for the sensitive restoration and re-organisation of the internal layout, incorporating a series of thermal upgrade works and the integration of sustainable technologies. Located within the Lincolnshire Wolds, area of outstanding natural beauty, the early 20th century dwelling, was in a poor state of repair and required reworking to improve the general arrangement of the interior and remove later unsympathetic additions and finishes that were harmful to the fabric of the building. The strategy for intervention was in keeping with an estate wide vison, using low carbon breathable materials that help protect the original fabric of the property and secure its long-term future.
