This project involved the conversion of part of a grand Victorian school building in Hackney into a loft apartment for a creative client. The design sympathetically introduced a slimline engineered mezzanine floor within the existing high-ceilinged space, preserving dramatic double-height areas that showcase the tall, vertical Victorian windows. These windows flood the interior with natural light, to create an airy and inspirational environment. Functional areas, such as the kitchen and bathroom, were discreetly tucked under the mezzanine, optimising space without compromising the building's historic character. The result is a unique living space that blends Victorian grandeur with modern functionality.
