The Merlin Centre is built on a tight site in the heart of Marlborough Science Academy and is designed to be in keeping with its context whilst still clearly being a contemporary structure. The simple efficient plan is bespoke to the school's specific needs and maximises the available space. The new building is flooded with natural light. Internal glass screens maximise light and views and provide a spacious feeling throughout whilst allowing different uses to be accommodated. The high quality of the workmanship, use of natural materials, careful attention to detail and subtle modelling of space has created a dynamic and exciting 21st century learning environment. The new building includes a dedicated sixth form centre, music department, computer suites and classrooms and was built on a fast programme and to a tight budget.
