Edward Architecture were appointed by J Clark Properties to convert the former 19th century baronial residence of Lieutenant Colonel George Glas Sandeman into a luxury Country House Hotel on the banks of Loch Faskally in Pitlochry. The imposing listed building has been sympathetically converted to accommodate 12 luxury suites and an ancillary building has been converted to provide a further 18 guest rooms. The two buildings are linked with a new timber and glass structure accommodating a 100 cover two storey restaurant and bar complete with function room. The contemporary timber-clad and glazed restaurant provides guests with stunning, far-reaching views of the surrounding landscape. Future development includes the addition of 36 holiday lodges and a leisure and spa facility, both of which have received full planning approval. In 2013 the project was commended by the Chartered Institute of Architectural Technology for the CIAT Award for Technical Excellence.
