Within a Conservation Area, New Build
It is a common misconception that in conservation areas, planners will not approve contemporary design. These two detached and zero-carbon, bespoke contemporary homes are proof to the contrary - sitting beside grade II listed buildings. With brick detailing, timber cladding and bay windows, these homes offer a contemporary interpretation of a traditional family home. The owners of this plot wanted to demolish their existing house and build a new, contemporary home for themselves, and another for sale. Both of these six-bedroom homes are designed for family life, with a large open-plan living, dining and kitchen space that spills out into the garden. The front door opens into an impressive triple height atrium, with daylight flooding in from the large rooflights and frameless glazed windows. While beautiful, this atrium means that despite the size of these six-bedroom homes – it’s very easy to call the kids down for tea! Meanwhile, the master-suite has its own private and landscaped terrace – a bit of sanctuary for mum and dad.
